NextCare Urgent Care’s rapid growth from one urgent care center in Mesa, Arizona, to one of the largest privately held, multi-state urgent care organizations in the country has been made possible by the dedicated leadership of our distinguished and highly respected Board of Directors.

Meet our Board Members


Fred L. Brown’s health care career spans 42 years. As a noted advocate for America’s hospitals and health care organizations, he has served in many prominent leadership roles and is currently immediate past chairman and a member of the Board of Commissioners of the Joint Commission and immediate past chairman of The National Kidney Foundation. Mr. Brown is known for his expertise in health care integration, governance, operations, public policy, diversity, spiritual care, community health and social responsibility. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.


Malcolm Kostuchenko has been a general partner for Enhanced Equity Fund, L.P. since its founding in 2005. Prior to Enhanced Equity Fund, L.P. he was a member of MTS Health Partners, L.P. where he focused on equity investments in health care services companies. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Guardian Health Care, Correctional Healthcare Management, NextCare® Urgent Care, Fitness Together and Triton Technologies. Mr. Kostuchenko received a bachelor of arts from Brown University.


Andrew M. Paul is the managing general partner of Enhanced Equity Fund and founder and chairman of Enhanced Capital Partners, LLC (ECP). He has been actively engaged in private equity and venture capital investing for over 25 years, primarily in the health care industry. Mr. Paul also served as general partner and a managing general partner at Welsh, Carson, Anderson and Stowe (WCAS) and was an associate of the venture capital group of Hambrecht & Quist. Mr. Paul received his B.A. from Cornell University in 1978 and his MBA from Harvard Business School in 1983. He serves on the Board of Trustees of Cornell University and the Board of Directors of Lawrence Hospital.


Dr. Larry Wolk is the Chief Executive Officer of CORHIO, Colorado’s nonprofit, state-designated health information exchange (HIE) organization. Dr. Wolk, who joined CORHIO in 2012, is guiding the expansion of the organization’s secure, statewide technology network that allows health care providers to more efficiently share and access their patients’ clinical information, improving quality of care and reducing costs. Dr. Wolk is a practicing physician, and prior to joining CORHIO held leadership positions at a variety of health care organizations. He is the founder and executive director of Rocky Mountain Youth Clinics, one of Colorado’s largest safety-net clinics, and served nearly five years as President and Chief Operating Officer at Correctional Healthcare Companies, a national organization with more than 2,500 employees. Furthermore, Dr. Wolk has served as the senior medical director for both Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Colorado and Prudential Healthcare of Colorado, and held regional and national roles as senior health care executive at CIGNA HealthCare. Over the last two decades, Dr. Wolk has received many honors including Colorado Pediatrician of the Year, Denver Business Journal Healthcare Executive of the Year and the Channel 7 “Everyday Hero” award.


John Julian joined NextCare Urgent Care in June 2010 as the President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Julian has over 20 years of experience successfully operating a wide range of health care services companies including medical equipment, respiratory services, pharmaceuticals, infusion therapy and urgent care. In addition, Mr Julian has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions.  Prior to joining NextCare Urgent Care, Mr. Julian spent several years founding and operating start-up companies in the pharmacy and personal services industries and provided consulting services for mergers and acquisitions in the Health Care industry. Previously Mr. Julian held executive level positions with Lincare Holdings, the nation’s largest provider of respiratory therapy and other in-home patient services.  A native of Phoenix and a graduate of the University of Arizona, Mr. Julian serves as a member of the Phoenix Thunderbirds and is a former director of the Foundation for Blind Children.
