Congratulations to our very own Dr. Richard Fleming for receiving The Patriot Award on June 18 from Employer Support Of The Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense program.

The Patriot Award is presented to individual supervisors who have shown outstanding support of service members through measures such as flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployments, caring for families and granting leaves of absence if needed.

He was nominated by NextCare’s Brian Reasoner who is an US Army Reservist. They both serve patients at our urgent care clinic in Casa Grande, AZ.

“Receiving the Patriot Award was a very humbling experience,” said Dr. Fleming, who has worked for NextCare Urgent Care for nine years. “I have the highest respect and admiration for our providers that serve in the Reserves and the National Guard.”

“They each make a tremendous sacrifice in their personal lives to perform their duty for our country.

“Every month they have to sacrifice a weekend away from their family. Additionally they have to perform training throughout the year that can last for weeks to months. And that does not include being called up for duty that can last a year if not longer.

“Being away from their family is very difficult for them. Additionally they have to balance their duties with a full-time job.

“If there is anything I can do to make their transitions easier it is an honor to do so. I greatly appreciate them and try to help.”
