Our Executive Team

Derek Newell

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Derek Newell joined NextCare  in November 2021 as CEO. Derek was the CEO of the first company to get the FDA to approve an internet connected medical device and has been working to integrate the internet and healthcare for the last 20 years. Derek has worked in medical devices, disease management, remote patient monitoring, virtual health, and at home testing. At NextCare, he and the team are transforming a large national physical delivery system with over 170 clinics into a technology-first platform to deliver consumer leading healthcare experiences. Derek most recently spent time at LetsGetChecked, the leading at home testing company and Virta Health, an online diabetes specialty clinic. Before that he was the founder of Jiff, a benefits navigation platform used by millions of employees at Fortune 500 companies. He has an MBA, MPH and BS, all from the University of California, Berkeley.

Alina Schreiber

Chief Financial Officer

Alina Schreiber joined NextCare in 2023 as Chief Financial Officer.    In this role she is responsible for the oversight of critical financial aspects of the company and oversight of the Finance organization.  Alina brings over 25 years of experience in finance in accounting functions, business operations and strategic planning including roles as Chief Financial Officer and SVP of Home Health, running a home health division.   Her background in healthcare includes value based national medical groups, technology based engagement platforms, healthcare solutions in worker’s compensation and working directly with payor groups.  Earlier in her career, she held roles with Deloitte and Touche and regional CPA firms.   Alina is a CPA and has a Master of Science from University of Central Florida and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Florida both in Accounting. 

Angie Fyfe

Chief Operations Officer

Angie Fyfe joined NextCare in 2023 as Chief Operations Officer where she is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care and experiences through NextCare’s urgent care clinics, virtual care team, and primary care operations, and leading various support functions that enable strategy and execution.  She brings over 30 years of executive experience in diverse industries including healthcare (population health, Durable Medical Equipment, and consumer technology), financial services, and retail, serving in a variety of progressive leadership positions such as Chief Operations Officer, Chief Growth Officer, and Chief Marketing Officer. 

Angie is passionate about creating purposeful, high-quality experiences for patients through a highly engaged and thriving culture.  Having been blessed with amazing mentors in her career, she is motivated to help others grow.  She has served as a mentor with Menttium for over 25 years and been recognized as Outstanding Mentor of the Year.  Angie earned her B.A. in marketing at the University of Tulsa and her M.B.A. from the University of Phoenix.

Celina Scally

Chief People Officer

Celina Scally, who started with NextCare in September 2023, is our Chief People Officer responsible for both our day-to-day and strategic human resources responsibilities, including talent management, total rewards, employee relations, HR operations and systems, organizational development, and employee communications..

Previously Celina was the Senior Vice President of Global Centers of Excellence for Owens & Minor, a Fortune 500 global healthcare solutions company.  Prior to this role, Celina spent over 30 years of her career with Apria Healthcare, which was acquired by Owens & Minor in 2022, and served Apria in progressively more responsible roles ranging from roles in the field organization in both billing and customer service, to Director, Customer Service and Training & Development followed by Vice President, Organizational Effectiveness & Change Management and culminated with her last role as Chief Human Resources Officer.

Celina also led Apria’s commitment to hiring the country’s military veterans and military spouses and was awarded the Patriotic Employer award by the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) and the Department of Defense Military Spouse Employment Partner recognition in 2016.

Celina is the recipient of the Orange County, CA National Human Resources Association (NHRA) 2015 Executive of the Year Award. In addition, under Celina’s leadership, Apria won ADP’s 2015 Strategic HR Award, which honors an organization that successfully integrated ADP solutions or services into core strategic HCM initiatives to improve efficiencies and save resources, money, and time and in 2016, Apria was awarded the Blackstone Equity Healthcare Innovations Award. Celina holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of Phoenix.

Ian Worden

Chief Technology and Product Officer

Ian Worden joined NextCare in 2022 and currently serves as the Chief Technology and Product Officer. Ian is an inquisitive and ambitious executive with over 20 years’ senior leadership experience in the healthcare industry including roles as Chief Information Officer and Chief Product Officer. At NextCare, he is responsible for overseeing and aligning the technology and product strategies of a company. Ian has a passion for innovation and leveraging technology to create better employee, clinician and patient experiences and outcomes. He resides in Gilbert, Arizona and is a graduate of the Arizona State University – Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation, where he earned his Master of Healthcare Innovation. He also earned a Master of Business Administration from Colorado Technical University.

Stephanie Swinbourne

Chief of Staff

Stephanie Swinbourne is a seasoned healthcare professional with over two decades of experience. She joined NextCare in 2014, where she has demonstrated her adaptability and versatility across various roles within the healthcare industry. With a background in Revenue Cycle, Customer Service, Project Management, and Business Development, Stephanie’s cross-functional expertise and passion for innovation has been a driving force in her career.

Currently serving as the Chief of Staff, Stephanie plays a pivotal role in guiding the organization toward its strategic objectives. She is committed to delivering exceptional patient care, driving revenue growth, and fostering collaborative relationships.  Stephanie also leads the Marketing department and Provider Scheduling team.

Allison Griffiths

General Counsel

Allison Griffiths joined NextCare in 2023 as General Counsel.  Allison has 20+ years of legal experience as a healthcare attorney.  She has experience as both outside and inside legal counsel, serving a wide array of healthcare industries.  Prior to joining NextCare, Allison served as Vice-President, Legal for Avalon Health Care Group, an owner and operator of skilled nursing and assisted living facilities in six states.  Allison is a strategic thinker who balances legal considerations with risk tolerance to achieve business objectives.  Allison has a passion for solving complex legal challenges as well as working for mission driving healthcare organizations.  Allison received her J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law – Illinois Institute of Technology and her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Missouri – Columbia and is certified in Health Care Compliance through the Health Care Compliance Association.   

Dr. Singh

Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Singh joined NextCare in 2014, serving as Chief Medical Officer since February 2023. Originally from Long Island, New York, he completed his Residency training at ProMedica Flower hospital in Toledo, Ohio. Dr. Singh is Board Certified in Family Medicine, trained in Emergency Medicine, and has over 15 years’ experience in urgent care specifically. Dr. Singh has also served in a variety of leadership positions such as: Associate Medical Director, Regional VP and Senior VP of Medical Operations. He is extremely passionate about delivering High Access–quality of care that is evidence-based and cost effective for our patients. He is responsible for overseeing all aspects of patient care and clinical quality improvement. Being an avid runner himself, he has served as a medical volunteer for several running events.

NextCare Urgent Care’s rapid growth from one urgent care center in Mesa, Arizona, to one of the largest privately held, multi-state urgent care organizations in the country has been made possible by the dedicated leadership of our distinguished and highly respected Board of Directors.

Malcolm Kostuchenko

Malcolm Kostuchenko has been a general partner for Enhanced Equity Fund, L.P. since its founding in 2005. Prior to Enhanced Equity Fund, L.P. he was a member of MTS Health Partners, L.P. where he focused on equity investments in health care services companies. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Guardian Health Care, Correctional Healthcare Management, NextCare® Urgent Care, Fitness Together and Triton Technologies. Mr. Kostuchenko received a bachelor of arts from Brown University.

Andrew M. Paul

Andrew M. Paul is the managing general partner of Enhanced Equity Fund and founder and chairman of Enhanced Capital Partners, LLC (ECP). He has been actively engaged in private equity and venture capital investing for over 25 years, primarily in the health care industry. Mr. Paul also served as general partner and a managing general partner at Welsh, Carson, Anderson and Stowe (WCAS) and was an associate of the venture capital group of Hambrecht & Quist. Mr. Paul received his B.A. from Cornell University in 1978 and his MBA from Harvard Business School in 1983. He serves on the Board of Trustees of Cornell University and the Board of Directors of Lawrence Hospital.
