NextCare Holdings, Inc. Among the First Urgent Care Companies to Administer Rapid COVID-19 Testing

April 4, 2020

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Mesa, AZ – (April 4, 2020) – One of the nation’s leading providers of urgent care medicine and occupational health services, announces it will begin using the new Abbott ID-NOW technology initially in select Colorado area clinics with a long term company-wide expansion plan to test for COVID-19 and get the results in minutes.

“NextCare is thrilled to be among the first urgent care companies to be part of the initial rollout of a portable molecular test that offers results in minutes. We anticipate this to be a game-changer for our front-line staff treating COVID-19 patients and are eager to expand our efforts in the forthcoming weeks,” commented CEO John Julian.

ID-NOW COVID-19 is groundbreaking in both its design and efficiency. The machine will allow patients to receive their test and results in under 15 minutes. If the patient is positive for COVID-19, a result will be known in as little as 5 minutes and if a patient is negative for COVID-19, a result will be known in as little as 13 minutes.

The efficiency of ID-NOW COVID-19 is helpful in not only allowing the patient to know their specific result, but the speed of the test allows healthcare professionals to make appropriate and more efficient treatment and infection control decisions.

Patients who are experiencing COVID-19 or viral symptoms may visit NextCare for an evaluation and if symptoms indicate patients may be given rapid tests for Influenza A/B and Strep, as a screening process to determine the necessity of administering the ID-NOW COVID-19 point of care test for a rapid diagnosis. At this time, NextCare is reserving these tests for patients who meet the provider-determined criteria based on CDC priority.

NextCare is offering a number of safe and responsible models of care for patients during COVID-19. A recent expansion of services includes Curbside Care and Telehealth to offer care during the various statewide “Stay at Home” and “Shelter in Place” orders. Click here for details.
